Mortmer House Kitchen

My wonderful friend Lello Favuzzi heads up the kitchen at the new Mortimer House and the menu is an amazing Middle Eastern Mediterranean explosion!

I met Lello on my first job in a kitchen back during my L’Anima days.  Aside from being a master at most things in the kitchen and is also a joker.  This summer I was lucky to visit his new venture with my mate Alexandra Dudley where we had a riot trying everything on the menu.  Before Mortimer opened, Lello travelled to Tel Aviv to research the cuisine and brought ideas back home while also throwing in some of his Sardinian background to the mix.  The menu has a strong selection of veggie dishes including an unforgettable hazelnut tortellini with aged balsamic and a spicy shakshuka.  I also chowed down on some raw tiger prawns that were so unbelievably sweet and some hot za’atar flat bread and hummus.  We finished off the lunch with some fresh mint straciatella and a tour of the restaurant.  This is a great spot if you are in the Oxford Circus area.
