Palomar, Soho


This place is quite hard to get a table.  We had to book a few weeks in advance but it was so worth it.  It's in Soho which is always a fun night out and they had an open chef's counter which is always a nice touch and makes you feel part of the action.  Everything from the marble top work surfaces to the beautiful gold menus was done to a very high standard.  Pheonix (my nephew) and I especially loved their branding and fonts.  The food is called modern Jerusalem with mixes from North Africa, Southern Spain and the Levant.  It's tapas style sharing plates  which were  served on stunning silver platters and plates.  The challah bread with the tahini and tomato dips are totally worth two helpings.  We also had the Fattoush salad with tomatoes, cucumber, spices, pita croutons and homemade labneth (below).  Other special plates were the Kubenia with chopped beef fillet, bulgar, tahini, herbs and pine nuts, the  Buttermilk Squash Risotto and the Cornfed Chicken.  The brownie looked very pretty (below) but mains were more my favourite part.

It was a great night of food and I already want to come back.
